Ms. Becky Bonzom
My Name is Becky, and I am the Outdoor Educational Leader at Bayview Community Preschool. I am a dedicated Early Childhood Educator and forest school teacher. I have studied at the AMI Montessori Training Center in Vancouver and completed my ECE certification through Pacific Rim Institute. I feel fortunate to have attended the Wild Wisdom course which was a 9 - month nature connection program which taught nature based skills and more, I as well had the opportunity to learn under Sharon with EartHand for a year about fibre, which taught stewardship, harvesting and processing as well as spinning and weaving.
My passion is working with children outdoors and encouraging their curiosity and questions. Here they are able to explore the natural world by means of thoughtfully exploring with their 5 senses. I enjoy facilitating play and allowing them to take risks and experiment. Children make forts, get their hands dirty, socialize and it goes with out saying, they have soo much fun. In the indoor environment we follow the child’s interest, being sure they have materials that allow them to experiment with and create whatever they can imagine. This is also a space for them to interpret what they are discovering outdoors.
I have two daughters and know the joys of working with children, as well as their parents. I am passionate about Community and connection. I look forward to another year of exciting adventure’s with the children of Bayview Community Preschool and their families.
